Heal Foundation and Deep Blue sign agreement for the future of neurosurgery
It's called Probe , the new project signed between Fondazione Heal and Deep Blue , to benefit the future of neurosurgery. This exciting story began about a year ago, when our Foundation met the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute (IRCCS) in Milan.
The Carlo Besta Neurological Institute IRCCS
This prestigious medical and research institute has become a true national and international reference point for the treatment of neurological, neurosurgical, neuro-oncological, chronic, and rare diseases in adults and children. Most neurosurgeons working nationwide have always been trained at this institute, which is equipped with cutting-edge surgical equipment and technologies.
The institute's goal is to train new and young neurosurgeons, increasing their awareness during surgical procedures. To this end, the institute has established the Neurosim Center , which houses 3D simulators and augmented reality technology, which are invaluable for neurosurgeons to rehearse all surgical phases in a safe environment.
The encounter with Deep Blue
But thanks to the encounter with Deep Blue, a small-medium enterprise founded in Rome in 2001 from an idea by Alberto Pasquini and Patrizia Marti, then researchers at ENEA and the University of Siena, this leap into the future has a new impetus.
The company's mission is the desire and conviction to create a place of excellence where research can be conducted without bureaucratic and administrative constraints, combined with the ability to create a multidisciplinary team capable of cooperating and expressing its full potential.
Deep Blue's role in the PROBE project is to provide new surgical students with industry professionals to advance their theoretical and practical training in neurosurgery . Deep Blue will contribute to the development of structured training programs for neurosurgeons , combining them with the simulators available at Besta. Key aspects of teamwork in the learning programs will also be identified.
How will the project be financed?
Heal Foundation will finance the Eneide project with a donation of 120,000 euros.
The official meeting held on October 6th at the Neurosim Center marked the official launch of the project. Present were representatives of the Heal Foundation, Simone De Biase ; Dr. Alessandro Perin of the "Carlo Besta" Institute in Milan; and Deep Blue, lead consultant Vanessa Arrigoni . Special guests of the day included Fabio Alberti, manager of the LCR Honda Team, and Stefano Musazzi.
There, it was then possible to take a tour of the neurological center, view the machines used for neurosurgery, and test them directly with the guidance of the medical staff present at the time.
